JAIPUR :- Recently on 18th June 2003 the drugs control department, Rajasthan has raided an Sriganganagar based wholesale dealer and its residence, which was engaged in interstate manufacturing and sale of spurious drugs. So far the proprietor of the firm Sh. Rajendra Somani is out of the reach of the department.

M/s Medicine India, 10 Lahoti Katla, 1st Floor, Dayanand Marg,Sriganganagar is a licensed dealer. Sh. Rajendra Somani is sole proprietor of this firm. He was dealing with fake name M/s Medicine India Pvt Ltd, Sriganganagar and was engaged in supplying of Spurious drugs in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and other states.

Sh. P. N. Saraswat, Drugs Controller, Rajasthan told that Commissioner, FDA, Gujarat, Gandhi Nagar informed him that drugs supplied by Medicine India Pvt Ltd, Sriganganagar are found spurious on Test/ Analysis. Therefore, the department should investigate the matter.

On this information Drugs controller, Rajasthan constituted a team headed by Sh. D. K. Shringi, Asstt. Drugs Controller, Special Cell, Dte. to investigate and report into the matter.

The team headed by Sh.Shringi raided the premises of Medicine India, 10 Lahoti Katla, 1st Floor, Dayanand Marg, Sriganganagar and its residence at 72 K-Block, Sriganganagar. Date Dec.05, Manufactured By- Zeal India Pvt Ltd, E-675, Ind. Area, Phase 2nd, Bhiwadi (Raj.);Nimesulide Tablets, Batch No. TN 0352, Mfg Date May 02, Exp. Date Aug 04, Manufactured By- Welcure Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, A-1129 RIICO Ind. Area, Phase 3rd, Bhiwadi (Raj); EASY CET Tablets, Batch No. 1748, Mfg Date Apr.02, Exp. Date Mar.05; GEOMOX-M Caps, Batch No.1840, Mfg Date May.03, Exp. Date Apr.05, Manufactured By- Indmag Remedies Pvt Ltd, 209, Phase 1st, Udyog Vihar, Gudguan-122016 drugs were taken from the premises for testing for reasons that li censee did not produce purchase during raid.

Small quantities of C-CLOX Caps, Batch No. 43,Mfg Date May 02,Exp. Date Apr 05, Manufactured By- Cadichem Pharma, W/86 MIDC Ind. Estate, Mumbai (India); NORAN-TZ, Batch No. 1762,Mfg Date May 02,Exp. Date Apr 04, Manufactured By- Indmag Remedies Pvt Ltd, 209, Phase 1st, Udyog Vihar, Gudguan-122016; CELOX Caps, Batch No. 145,Mfg Date Jan 02,Exp. Date Dec 03, Manufactured By- Rollex Pharma, 125, HSIDC Ind. Area, Panipat (Haryana), were also recovered from the residence at 72 K-Block of Sh. Rajendra Somani, which were sampled and seized in presence of his wife Smt. Sushma Somani.

The party raided firm Medicine India in presence of accountant of the firm. Sh. Rajendra Somani was not present during these raids. Purchase bills of the drugs recovered were also not produced on the time of raid. The team has also recovered Caps. C-Clox manufactured by M/s Cadichem Pharma, W/86 MIDC Ind. Estate, Mumbai, regarding which Commissioner FDA, Gujarat specifically mentioned in his letter. In this regard Commissioner, FDA, Maharashtra has earlierly clarified to the department that Cadichem does not exist in his state.

Earlierly also few medicines supplied by the same firm were found spurious on test by the department and the person is facing criminal trials at Hanumangarh and Churu in Rajasthan.

It is further revealed by the investigating team that perhaps the person was getting the drugs manufactured from places, where the orders to be executed. The team has not recovered any Machineries etc. The matter is under investigation.
